Coaching approach

“Performance is only the maximum expression of health” - Killian Jornet

This concept sits at the core of my coaching philosophy. Keeping your physical and mental wellbeing as the priority, my role is to create a sustainable, practical training plan and to support you in achieving your wildest running goals. Training theory only works when it’s tailored to the individual runner. Long-term progress depends on consistency, and consistency requires adaptability.

  • Weekly training plans uploaded on Training Peaks
  • Personalised strength programming
  • Nutritional and race-fueling guidance
  • Constant support on WhatsApp (work hours) and weekly calls
  • Phone calls as needed
  • First Access to running retreats and events
  • Feedback systems to adjust training to internal and external stresses.

Retreats & Events

Our Running Retreats and Training Camps are immersive week or weekend-long experiences designed to provide focused, structured training ahead of key races like UTCT, and UTD. Each retreat includes structured running sessions, recovery Yoga classes, run-specific strength training, and talks on training theory. You’ll train and recover well, explore new trails safely, connect with like-minded runners, and unwind together in a relaxed, outdoor setting.

About me

With an Honour’s degree in Mathematics and a Master’s in Molecular Biology, I bring a scientific, data-informed approach to coaching. I believe that running is a celebration of what our minds and bodies can do, an enabler of adventure and learning about yourself. Besides nerding out on training theory, I value understanding my clients as individuals and building connections within the trail community.  I attained my coaching certification through the Sports Science Institute of South Africa.

Testimonials

“After a year of training with Kel, I’m learning more and more that training is not a one-time fix, but a constantly unfolding process of learning discipline, patience with yourself, and through that, realising that to run is to celebrate and to love and thus to dissolve the boundaries between your physical body and the spiritual world. She gently but firmly has held the voice of joy and reason when I have strayed from this, and has an incredible toolkit and sounding board of knowledge that has allowed me to leverage my body and spirit to run and further unlock the joy and freedom it contains and conduits.”

“Working with Kelly has been a life changer for me! Her encouragement, insight, and genuine care made a huge difference in my running and my confidence. I’m stronger, more consistent, injury-free and loving the process. Her approach is dynamic and she's constantly seeking feedback on how I'm feeling, as a result I've had the longest period of injury-free progress and I'm hitting all new goals in my running career! She's made the journey so fun with the best running camps and catchups. I couldn’t recommend Kelly more highly.”

"Kelly started coaching me at the start of 2025. Before that, I used to wing training and ran "as much as I felt like" on any given day (or, let's be honest, not at all). I really wanted to run trails regularly, but I was too intimidated by the myriad routes and the elevation of Table Mountain routes to attempt it. I also struggled with motivation and consistency.

Being coached by Kelly has been a game-changer for me. She is so kind and puts in so much effort into understanding and supporting each of her athletes in exactly the way that each person needs. She is extremely approachable, knowledgeable, patient and just as excited about my goals as I am. Having Kelly in my corner while I'm training in the midst of life's chaos makes all the difference in keeping me accountable, ensures that I'm moving in the right direction, and crucially, helps me to feel that someone is cheering me on when I struggle to believe in my ability as an athlete."

“In less than a month of training with Kelly, I’ve already experienced amazing differences in how my body shows up to running. Whenever I’ve upped the intensity of my running, an old complex injury always seemed to come back (a torn hip labrum with all its biomechanic consequences), but from day one, Kelly put me on some magic strength and rehab exercises which has kept me feeling strong and niggle free thus far!

Her approach makes it so easy to commit to the programme because she understands the stresses and pressures of life and how it can affect your training. She presents the perfect balance between gentle understanding and encouraging firmness, knowing when it’s important to push yourself through some tough moments.”

“If you are looking for a coach that understands balance, is highly empathetic and knows how to problem solve, Kelly is the best I know. In 2025, I was living in London and came to her with the goal of running UTCT 100K. We overcame all and got over the line! I say we, because I could not have done it without her knowledge, motivation, support and dedication."

"Kelly helped me get through probably the most gruelling prep for my first ever ultra marathon.  Coming from professional sport I found her to be informative and flexible. I had work and travel commitments and she was always a phone call away. Even during a 35km mid-day training run she found time to talk and coach me through the next steps. Couldn’t recommend Kelly enough."

"Kelly is a friend first and then your coach, and that’s exactly what makes her so authentic.  We aren't just training to tick off a race goal or chasing performance outcomes; we're building a sustainable love for the sport with the intention that you'll run happily for many years to come. Kelly played a massive part in my successful UTCT100 km race, and the incredibly positive experience I had on race day. I arrived at that start line feeling confident, well-conditioned, and ready - which is a testament to her thoughtful, balanced, and deeply supportive coaching. Kelly places huge value on keeping the joy in running, she supports your goals wholeheartedly and finds ways to make training fit seamlessly into a busy schedule. Our goals are far from finished, and I'm excited for many more trails and adventures with Kelly guiding the way."
